Light and sound: the key to success

Preparations for our horse show at the EXPO Hal Assen are in full swing, and lighting and sound technology play a particularly important role.

Every event hall brings its own challenges: different acoustics, a new overall floor area and changing lighting conditions. From the very first rehearsals, lighting, music, voices, singing and effects have to be precisely tuned to the space.

At the same time, it is important to show the horses and everyone involved at their best, without startling the animals with unusual changes in light or sound. Careful technical preparation therefore not only creates an impressive atmosphere, but also contributes to the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved.

Just how much the acoustics of a hall can change became clear during our performances in January, at the show evenings of the 2026 Stallion Inspection in Leeuwarden. Both evenings were completely sold out.

Did you know?

A full grandstand has a considerable effect on the sound, because people absorb part of it.

As a result, the reverberation, the volume and the clarity of the spoken word all change. How wonderful it was to hear that the lighting and sound were such an impressive part of the show.

At the EXPO Hal Assen, we face new conditions. The size and layout of the space, the structural features of the hall and the lighting conditions call for a completely new technical plan. Our experience in Leeuwarden is valuable, but it cannot simply be copied one-to-one.

That is why we are already hard at work. During the upcoming rehearsals, lighting and sound will be tested, adjusted and fine-tuned step by step to the music, the choreography and the movements of the horses. Our goal is a harmonious overall experience in which horses, people, music, light and atmosphere fit together perfectly.
